Diesel-to-Electric Conversion: Real Vehicle Demonstration
This is Top-Auto’s latest retrofit service: removing the diesel engine from a traditionally diesel-powered aerial work platform and replacing it with an electric motor, connecting directly to the vehicle’s original hydraulic system. There is no need to reconstruct the vehicle body structure, resulting in low retrofit costs, short turnaround times, and uncompromised performance.
Before the conversion, the Top-Auto team, referencing OEM whole-vehicle testing procedures, develops a detailed test plan for each machine, comprising more than 60 test items. These cover the performance indicators that customers care about most—such as boom movement smoothness, operating speed, travel speed, and gradeability—and a comprehensive functional test is conducted to form the vehicle acceptance standard.
After the conversion, a functional inspection is carried out strictly in accordance with the acceptance standards to ensure that the vehicle’s functions and performance remain consistent with the original machine. Simply put: it still drives like the same machine, but now it runs on electricity instead of burning diesel—green, energy-saving, and cost-efficient.
For rental companies, diesel-to-electric conversion means lower operating costs, more environmentally friendly equipment management, and a longer equipment lifecycle. At the exhibition, many rental business owners surrounded the real vehicle, inspecting it repeatedly and asking in detail about the conversion cycle, costs, and energy consumption comparisons. Several customers expressed their intention to retrofit on the spot.
